Remote Trading Setup Instructions

Applying for an Assent remote access login

1) Open a web browser window and navigate to http://www.assent.com/vpnapplication.

2) Please use "demo" for both username and password if you are a prospective trader. If you already have an account with Assent, please use your Anvil trader ID and password.

Note: Prospective traders are given a 2 week trial period. Assent traders will be charged $100/mo for SSL remote access.

3) Fill in and submit the form. If you have already contacted someone at Assent about opening an account, please put their name in the "Approved By" field.

Please keep track of the password you input in the "Desired Password" field.

4) You should expect a reply from us within 2 business days with a logon ID. If you have not heard back after 2 business days, please check your Junk or Spam folder before emailing assent.remotesupport@sungard.com for assistance.

Installing the F5 SSL remote connection software

1) Open a web browser window and navigate to http://sslsoftware.assent.com.

2) Click on the F5 SSL Setup link.

3) Click Run or Open to download the software. Depending on your browser and operating system, you may have to click Run or Open twice.

4) Click "Next" on the "F5 Networks VPN Client for Windows Setup" screen:

5) Fill in your information and click Next to continue.

6) Click Install to begin the installation.

7) Click Finish to complete installation.

Connecting to the Assent network using F5 SSL

1) You should see the below icon on your desktop:

2) Doublclick on the icon to start the F5 SSL software. You should see two windows open up. Click "Connect" on the "FirePass controller" window.

3) Enter your remote logon ID and the password you chose when filling out the remote application. Then click Login.

4) If you see the below security alert, click Yes to continue.

5) A series of small boxes will appear detailing the connection attempt. When the Connected box comes up and then disappears, you will be connected to the Assent network.

6) When properly connected, the F5 window will appear as below:

7) You can now startup and connect to the Anvil trading platform.

Updating the F5 SSL software

Occasionally we will update the F5 SSL software. When an update is available, the below window will appear after you successfully connect. Please click "Install" to update your remote trading software.

If you are using Windows Vista and cannot install updates, please follow the below steps:

  1. Go to the control panel. Type in "UAC" in the search bar along the top.
  2. You'll see the User Accounts task: Turn User Account Control (UAC) on or off.
  3. Turn it off.
  4. Restart computer and login into F5 again.
